A high driving position, a generous boot, comfort on winding roads: an SUV is a good choice for exploring Martinique. Our range goes from compact to prestige SUVs, handed over free of charge at Aimé Césaire airport, with unlimited mileage.
Our SUVs
- Peugeot 2008 — compact SUV, manual gearbox, guaranteed model;
- Dacia Sandero Stepway — the raised version of the Sandero, automatic gearbox;
- Kia Sportage — family SUV, automatic gearbox, guaranteed model;
- Mercedes GLA and GLC — prestige SUVs, automatic gearbox, for drivers aged 25 and over (see our prestige cars).
Do you need an SUV in Martinique?
Not necessarily: the roads are paved and a city car gets everywhere; a 4x4 isn't needed. An SUV mostly adds comfort: more space, a high position to anticipate the bends of the Route de la Trace or the road to Grand'Rivière (see the north by car), and a boot sized for a family's luggage.
SUV or 7-seater?
Up to five people, the SUV is the most comfortable. Beyond that, take a 7-seater. And if you prefer an automatic, three of our SUVs are: see also automatic car rental.

Frequently asked questions
Automatic SUVs go earlier than manuals on busy dates: see renting in high season before fixing your dates.
Which SUVs do you offer in Martinique?
The Peugeot 2008 (manual), the Dacia Sandero Stepway and the Kia Sportage (automatic), and in our prestige range the Mercedes GLA and GLC (automatic).
Do I need a 4x4 to visit Martinique?
No: the roads are paved and a city car is enough. An SUV adds comfort and space, not a necessity.
Do you have automatic SUVs?
Yes: the Dacia Sandero Stepway, the Kia Sportage, and the Mercedes GLA and GLC.
What is the minimum age to rent a Mercedes GLA or GLC?
25 years old (article 4.1 of our terms and conditions).
Will I get exactly the SUV advertised?
It depends on the model. The Peugeot 2008 and the Kia Sportage are among our guaranteed models: you drive away in that car. For the other SUVs the category is guaranteed and the model depends on availability; the card's label says which.
Will an SUV get everywhere in Martinique?
Yes — and so will a small car: the island's roads are surfaced. An SUV buys ground clearance on the access tracks to a few beaches, and boot space. Not off-road capability.
