Guaranteed model or similar model?
It is the question we get most, and the answer is on every card. For five categories the model is guaranteed: Peugeot 2008, Kia Sportage, Dacia Jogger, Mercedes GLA and Mercedes GLC — you drive away in that model. For the others, it is the category that is guaranteed: you get a car of the stated size, seat count and gearbox, but the exact model depends on the day's availability. That is standard practice in car rental, and each card tells you which applies before you book.
How to choose your category
Four questions settle it.
- How many of you? Up to four, a small car or an SUV. Five or more, the seven-seater — we hold a single one.
- How much luggage? Two large suitcases fit in a small car; beyond that, an SUV's boot changes things, especially if you move accommodation mid-trip.
- Manual or automatic? Inland roads wind: if you drive an automatic at home, do not switch here. See our automatics.
- What budget? The daily rate falls as the rental lengthens. Cheap car rental explains what moves it.
What is included, whichever car you take
Unlimited mileage and the vehicle's insurance, with an excess in case of damage. Every car is air-conditioned and serviced by Garage LJC, our own workshop. Optional, shown as you book: excess reduction, an additional driver, a child seat, handover at the cruise port. The detail is on deposit and excess.
Where to collect your car
At Aimé Césaire airport — free handover, at any hour, seven days a week — or at our Le Lamentin branch, open every day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Handover at the Fort-de-France cruise port is possible for a surcharge. We deliver neither to homes nor to accommodation.
When to book
As soon as your dates are set if you are coming over the end-of-year holidays or in February: those are the two windows when the categories we hold fewest of — seven-seaters, automatics — go first. See renting in high season.
Will I get exactly the model shown?
For the Peugeot 2008, Kia Sportage, Dacia Jogger and the Mercedes GLA and GLC, yes: the model is guaranteed. For the other categories, the category is guaranteed — same size, same seat count, same gearbox — and the model depends on availability. Each card says which.
Are all the cars air-conditioned?
Yes, the whole fleet is air-conditioned.
Is mileage capped?
No, it is unlimited on every rental, whatever the duration or category.
Who services the vehicles?
Garage LJC, our own workshop. It is also the workshop that overhauls the cars we later sell used.
Can I change car during the rental?
Contact the Le Lamentin branch: depending on availability and the time remaining, a change of category is looked at case by case, with the corresponding price adjustment.
