Staying in Sainte-Anne, the southernmost town in Martinique? Our agency isn't there: it's in Le Lamentin, next to the airport. That's what keeps renting simple: your car waits for you at Aimé Césaire airport, the handover is free, and you drive to Sainte-Anne in 50 minutes to an hour. We don't deliver to accommodation: you collect the car at the airport, at our Le Lamentin agency or at the Fort-de-France cruise port.
From the airport to Sainte-Anne
Sainte-Anne is about 40 km from the airport, on the southern road through Le Marin. Allow 50 minutes to an hour outside rush hours to the village, a little more to the Les Salines car park.
Rush hours matter: on weekdays the southern road is busy towards Le Lamentin in the morning and in the other direction in the late afternoon. If you land in the late afternoon, allow extra time; on departure day, leave early to return the car before check-in.
What a car opens up around Sainte-Anne
- Grande Anse des Salines — the island's best-known beach, at the end of a road away from the village. Come early: the car park fills up fast in season and at weekends;
- Pointe Marin beach — right by the village, for an end-of-day swim;
- Anse Michel and Cap Chevalier — on the Atlantic side, windier, among the island's kitesurfing and windsurfing spots;
- The Savane des Pétrifications — a dry, mineral landscape, rare in Martinique, near Les Salines;
- The Trace des Caps — the coastal trail running along the shore to Sainte-Anne, to walk section by section;
- The village — best explored on foot once the car is parked.
About ten minutes away is Le Marin and its marina; for the rest of the coast, our south of Martinique page covers Le Diamant, Les Anses-d'Arlet and the nearby beaches.
Parking is the real issue
The roads to the beaches are narrow and sometimes winding, with no difficulty for a city car. Parking, however, is won early: at Les Salines and in the village, spaces go fast from December to April, in July-August and at weekends. A compact car is easier to park.
Which car to choose
A city car is enough for a couple and parks anywhere. For a family or with beach gear, a roomier model, up to 7 seats, is more comfortable. If you don't drive a manual, pick an automatic car. The full range is on the Vehicles page.
