What documents are required to rent a vehicle?
- a valid driver's license held for at least 12 months
- a valid ID document
- a credit card in the name of the main driver (Visa, Mastercard or American Express)
Can I rent a car without a security deposit?
No: a security deposit is always required, even with the Tout Compris pack, which greatly reduces it; the amount is shown as soon as you book. You can choose between a credit card hold (a pre-authorisation, not a charge, released after you return the car) and Swikly, a deposit service that doesn't block your card limit, available to all our customers for a service fee. It's all explained on our deposit and excess page.
Can I rent a car with a debit card?
Not for the deposit: debit cards are not accepted. Bring a Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit card in the main driver's name; Swikly does not accept American Express.
What payment methods are accepted?
Do you accept holiday vouchers (chèques-vacances)?
No: we accept neither holiday vouchers nor cheques nor cash. Payment is by card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express).
Can I pay for my rental in instalments?
Yes, for an online booking over €1,000 paid in full: paying in 3 instalments with Klarna is offered at checkout. It isn't available with a deposit-only payment.
What is the minimum age to rent a car?
18, with a licence held for at least one year. Standard conditions are 23 years old and 3 years of licence; below that, a daily young driver surcharge applies: €8 from 21 to 22 or with less than 3 years of licence, €12 from 18 to 20, charged for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 10. The full excess waiver (Tout Compris pack) is reserved for standard conditions, and the Mercedes GLA and GLC require drivers aged 25. Do I need an international driving permit in Martinique?
A European Union licence is enough. With a licence issued outside the EU, an international driving permit may be required in addition, when French regulations demand it for the issuing country. Local driving rules are summed up in our driving in Martinique guide.
Do you rent licence-free cars?
No: all our vehicles require a category B driving licence held for at least one year.
Do you deliver vehicles to your accommodation or to the airport?
To the airport, yes, free of charge; to your accommodation or home, no. So that your car is ready on time, we hand it over at three places:
- Aimé Césaire airport, free of charge, 7 days a week and at any time (late-arrival fees in the evening and at night, T&C art. 8): the car is waiting when you land and you drive straight to your accommodation;
- Our Le Lamentin agency, every day from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm (book by phone on +596 696 61 70 70);
- Fort-de-France cruise port for a cruise stopover, with an extra charge shown when you book.
How do I make a reservation?
Can I rent a car for just one day?
Yes: rentals are counted in 24-hour periods, with a one-hour grace period on return, after which an extra day is due.
What should I do in case of a delay or cancellation?

Are the vehicles insured?
Can I rent with no excess?
Yes: the Tout Compris pack brings the excess down to €0. It's offered at booking to drivers aged 23 and over with 3 years of licence; the Petite Carrosserie pack reduces it. A security deposit is still required in every case, greatly reduced with the Tout Compris pack.
Do you have electric cars?
Not at the moment: our fleet is made up of petrol vehicles.
