Trois-Îlets is where you sleep — the island is elsewhere
The commune holds a large share of Martinique's tourist accommodation: the Pointe du Bout hotels, the Anse Mitan residences, rentals around the marina. It is an excellent base, quiet and well equipped, facing Fort-de-France across the bay.
But most of what makes Martinique worth the trip is a drive away: the southern beaches, Mount Pelée in the north, the Route de la Trace, the rum distilleries. Without a vehicle you stay within a few kilometres — and you miss the island.
The ferry does not replace a car
From Pointe du Bout, the passenger ferry crosses the bay to Fort-de-France, and it is by far the nicest way into town: no drive around the bay, no city traffic.

But the ferry only covers that crossing: the moment you want to reach Sainte-Anne, Le Diamant, Saint-Pierre or the heights, a car becomes essential again. Most visitors end up combining the two: boat for the city, car for the island.
Collecting your vehicle
Most of our customers collect their car at Aimé Césaire airport on arrival, then drive straight to their accommodation in Les Trois-Îlets. It is the simplest option: the vehicle is ready when you land and there is no transfer to arrange.
We also have a second collection point at the port of Fort-de-France, handy if you arrive by boat or pass through the capital. You choose your pick-up point when you book.
What to see in Les Trois-Îlets
The commune is worth exploring in itself, and a car lets you do it without depending on timetables:
- Pointe du Bout and its marina — the tourist heart, restaurants and boat trips.
- Anse Mitan and Anse à l'Âne — the local beaches, a few minutes apart by car.
- The pottery village — craft workshops set in a former brickworks.
- La Savane des Esclaves — a reconstructed Creole village and a walk through the island's history.
- The golf course — an 18-hole course overlooking the bay.
Heading south, the road continues to Les Anses-d'Arlet and Le Diamant, two classic stops on a first week in Martinique.
Which vehicle to choose
A city car is enough to get around the commune and reach the beaches, and it parks easily at Pointe du Bout, where spaces are tight in high season. Travelling as a family, or planning to cover the whole island? A roomier model will be more comfortable on the long northern roads. Our fleet covers both, and vans are available if you have equipment to carry.
